About the Course
If you are a writer who wants to create realistic and compelling crime scenes, you might be interested in taking a course on Procedural Forensics for the Writer. This course will teach you the basics of forensic science and how to apply it to your fiction. You will learn how to collect, analyze, and interpret evidence, how to reconstruct events from physical clues, and how to avoid common mistakes and misconceptions.
The course covers different aspects of procedural forensics, such as fingerprints, DNA, ballistics, bloodstains, toxicology, and more. Each module includes readings, quizzes, and assignments that will help you practice your skills and test your knowledge. By the end of the course, you will have a solid foundation in procedural forensics and a toolkit of techniques to enhance your writing. Remember, all the information contained in this course is geared toward providing an overall summary of crime scene forensics for writing purposes. It's purpose is not for certification. This course barely skims the surface of the studies listed below. A more in-depth course will be provided in the near future depending on interest.
The course consists of modules, each with a specific learning objective and a practical assignment.
